Habitat
Subtropical and tropical moist lowland forest. From sea-level - 300 m, occasionally up to 1,400 m.

Range (Guide)

Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Venezuela.

Panama (eastern from western Colón), Colombia (Pacific lowlands and east to middle Magdalena Valley), extreme western Venezuela (north-western Táchira, M�rida) and north-western Ecuador (Esmeraldas).

Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Subspecies
May form a superspecies with Lovely Cotinga (Cotinga amabilis), Turquoise Cotinga (Cotinga ridgwayi), Plum-throated Cotinga (Cotinga maynana), Purple-breasted Cotinga (Cotinga cotinga) and Banded Cotinga (Cotinga maculata), and all sometimes treated as conspecific.

No subspecies.
