Range (Guide)

Panama.

West-central to eastern Panama: Veraguas, and Caribbean slope of Canal Zone to Dari�n.

Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Subspecies
May form a superspecies with Rufous-winged Woodpecker (Piculus simplex), Lita Woodpecker (Piculus litae) and White-throated Woodpecker (Piculus leucolaemus), and all are often treated as conspecific.
