Dry savanna.

Range (Guide)

Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo [The Democratic Republic of the], C�te dIvoire, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Togo, Uganda.

Vagrant to Gambia.

Breeds in savannas from northern Ivory Coast east to southern Sudan and northern Uganda; migrates northern and north-west to Sahel and arid savanna from Sierra Leone east to northern Niger, northern Chad and north-central Sudan.

Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Subspecies
No subspecies.

Often placed in genus Mirafra, but distinctive in terms of structure, plumage (including slight sexual dimorphism) and migratory behaviour. Forms a superspecies with Dusky Lark (Pinarocorys nigricans), and sometimes considered conspecific.
