Population
Estimated population is 4,000 - 5,500 (2010) and increasing.
Status NT
Habitat loss for boat building, banana plantations, cattle- and buffalo-grazing and beach houses, trapping for the cage-bird trade are the main threats.

Food
Mainly frugivorous. But also leaves, flowers and insects within fruit.
Voice
High-pitched and musical growls, 'klit-cráu, klit-cráú', and liquid chatters.

Subspecies
Possibly forms a superspecies with Red-browed Amazon (Amazona rhodocorytha) and Blue-cheeked Amazon (Amazona dufresniana) and has been treated as conspecific with both.
