Subspecies
Sometimes placed in genus Ammomanes, and has been considered by some to be close to Gray's Lark (Ammomanopsis grayi), but appears distinct.
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
dunni (Shelley, 1904) - Southern edge of Sahara in Mauritania, northern and central Mali, southern Niger, northern Chad and central Sudan.
eremodites (Meinertzhagen, R, 1923) - Jordan (Azraq), southern Israel (sporadic), northern and central Saudi Arabia and south-western Oman. Considered by some authors to be a distinct species, Arabian Lark (Eremalauda eremodites).
