Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland dry shrubland, dry savanna. Also, subtropical and tropical lowland dry grassland, dry forest, plantations. From sea-level - 1,100 m.

Range (Guide)

Afghanistan (B), Bahrain (NB) (P), India, Iran [Islamic Republic of] (B), Iraq (B), Kuwait, Pakistan, Qatar (NB) (P), Saudi Arabia (NB), Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Yemen (P).

Vagrant to Egypt, Israel, Oman, Turkey.

Breeds eastern Iraq, south-western and southern Iran, southern Turkmenistan and western Afghanistan; non-breeding mainly southern Iran, southern Pakistan, western and central Saudi Arabia and coastal districts of western Gulf States.

Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Food
Mainly fruits and berries, including mulberries, figs and dates. Some insects.

Voice
A series of squealing descending notes or 'kleeeu' whistles. Also, scolding chirps.

Cup-shaped and deep lined with hair and fluff, often placed on the leaves of a date palm about 1 - 2 m above the ground.
