Subtropical and tropical lowland dry grassland and shrubland, dry savanna, pastureland, arable land.

Range (Guide)

Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo [The Democratic Republic of the], C�te dIvoire, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea-bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania [United Republic of], Togo, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

Vagrant to Liberia, Rwanda.

Senegambia east to Ethiopia and Somalia, and south to South Africa.

Population
Estimated population is 10,000 - 100,000 (2011) and decreasing.
