Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland dry shrubland, dry grassland, rural gardens.

Range (Guide)
Lesotho, South Africa, Swaziland.

Vagrant to Botswana.

South Africa, Lesotho and Swaziland, marginally into south-eastern Botswana and south-western Mozambique.
 
Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Voice
Song is a far-carrying 'tsee-tseu-tseet chweeeoo' whistle. Alarm call is a harsh grating.
