Estimated population is 2,500 - 9,999 (2010) and decreasing.
Status NT
Habitat destruction and degradation through agricultural conversion and deforestation for coffee, banana and rubber plantations is the main threat.

Oustalet's Tyrannulet (Phylloscartes oustaleti) is larger, has bolder face pattern, more horizontal posture, and cocked tail is constantly quivered.
