Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand.

Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Subspecies
Proposed subspecies flavum (from Anambas Is) merged with nominate.

The following 2 subspecies are recognised:

magnirostre (Moore, 1854) - Extreme southern Myanmar, western and southern Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia (including Tioman I), Anambas Is, Singapore and Sumatra.
cinereocapilla (Salvadori, 1868) - Borneo.
