Subspecies
The following 4 subspecies are recognised:

grandis (Blyth, 1842) - Himalayas from central Nepal east to north-eastern India (Arunachal Pradesh south to Assam, Meghalaya and Manipur), southern China (south-eastern Xizang and western Yunnan), central Myanmar and northern and western Thailand.
griseiventris La Touche, 1921 - Southern China (south-eastern Yunnan), north-eastern and central Laos and north-western Vietnam.
decorata Robinson & Kloss, 1919 - South-central Vietnam (southern Annam).
decipiens Salvadori, 1891 - Southern Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia and Sumatra.
