Subspecies
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:

ruficrissa (Salvadori, 1879) - Sumatra. Considered by some authors to be a distinct species, Rufous-vented Flycatcher (Eumyias ruficrissa).
indigo (Horsfield, 1821) - Java.
cerviniventris (Sharpe, 1887) - Northern Borneo (Mt Kinabalu south to Mt Mulu).
