Habitat
Primary lowland dipterocarp and peatswamp forest, coastal woodland. From sea-level - 1,500 m.

Range (Guide)

China (mainland) (NB), Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, North Korea, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Russia (Asian), South Korea, Taiwan (China).

Vagrant to Singapore, USA, Vietnam.

Breeds north-eastern China (Manchuria and Jilin), south-eastern Russia (Amurland, Ussuriland, southern Kamchatka), Sakhalin I and Kuril Is. Non-breeding Taiwan, Philippines, northern Borneo, Sulawesi, Moluccas and western New Guinea.

Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Usually solitary. Arboreal insectivore.

Voice
A metallic, high-pitched rattling 'tzit tzit'.
