Ground and lower storey of hill and montane evergreen forest, usually near streams. From 750 - 1,750 m.

Mountains of Peninsular Malaysia.

Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Status NT
Habitat destruction through conversion to agriculture and construction of a road through is habitat are the main threats.

Habits
Very shy.

Voice
Call is a loud, thin 'tsee'. Also, a soft mix of fluty and scratchy notes.

Similar Species
Blue Whistling-Thrush (Myophonus caeruleus) which is larger, heavier-billed, with dull whitish median covert tips and bluish speckles on mantle, scapulars, sides of head and throat.
