Habitat
Canopy and high edge of lowland evergreen forest, including peatswamp-forest, mature and regenerating secondary forest. Also fruiting trees and shrubs in clearings and high shade cover of plantations. From sea-level - 700 m (to 1,100 in Malaysia).

Brunei Darussalam (B), Indonesia (B), Malaysia (B), Myanmar (B), Singapore (B), Thailand (B).

Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010) and decreasing.

Status NT
Destruction of its lowland habitat is the main threat.

Subspecies
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:

septentrionalis Robinson & Kloss, 1919 - Extreme southern Myanmar (southern Tenasserim), south-western Thailand and northern Malay Peninsula.
cyanopogon (Temminck, 1829) - Southern Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, and Borneo (including Banggi I, off northern coast).
