Habitat
Primary and secondary lowland dipterocarp forest, plantations. From sea-level - 1,200 m. Favours forest edges and clearings.

Range (Guide)

Malaysia (B) (NB).

Northern Borneo, in extreme north-eastern Sarawak and Sabah.

Population
Estimated population is 1,000 (2010) and decreasing.

Status NT
Forest destruction through logging and land conversion, fires, and trapping for the cage-bird industry are the main threats.

Often in pairs or small groups. Flies with rapid wing-beats.

Food
Large insects, small birds, lizards.

Voice
A trilling 'kree-kree-kree...'.
