A sharp, downslurred, high-pitched 'tse-tsee-tsee...' uttered in flight.

Subspecies
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
cyanurus (Forster, 1795) - Burma, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Borneo, Sumatra.
pontius Oberholser, 1912 - Mentawi Islands southwards from Siberut.
abbottii Richmond, 1902 - Simeulue and Siumat. Considered by some authors to be a distinct species, Simeulue Parrot (Psittinus abbotti).
Similar Species
Blue-naped Parrot (Tanygnathus lucionensis) which is much larger, lacks any blue on the rump, has an all-red bill and a different pattern on the wing coverts.
