First Described (Guide)
(Temminck, 1824)

Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland moist forest. Also, subtropical and tropical montane moist forest, dry forest, urban areas, rural gardens. From sea-level - 1,500 m.

Range (Guide)
Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand.

Southern Myanmar (southern from Dawna Range) and south-western Thailand (Petchaburi District) south through Malay Peninsula to Johore, including Penang I; also Sumatra and Bangka I, and throughout lowland Borneo.
 
Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Predominantly insects, especially bees, wasps and hornets.

Species name often listed as amicta, but genus was originally established without a specified combination, and must therefore, in accordance with International Code of Zoological ­Nomenclature, be treated as masculine.
