Habitat
Primary or lightly logged lowland evergreen forests, montane dipterocarp forest, peatswamp forest, logged areas, cocoa plantations. From sea-level - 1,220 m.
Brunei Darussalam (B), Indonesia (B), Malaysia (B), Singapore (E) (B), Thailand (B).
Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010) and decreasing.
Status NT
Habitat destruction and degradation through illegal logging and land conversion is the main threat.

Subspecies
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
kasumba (Raffles, 1822) - Southernmost peninsular Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia and Sumatra.
impavidus (Chasen & Kloss, 1931) - Borneo.
