Habitat
Primary hill and lower montane forest. From 150 - 1,500 m.

Range (Guide)

Brunei Darussalam (B), Indonesia (B), Malaysia (B).

Inland Borneo. Recent record from Ulu Barito at 150 250 m extends previously known range southern from main spinal ranges.

Population
Estimated population is 2,500 - 9,999 (2010) and decreasing.

Status VU
Forest loss, degradation and fragmentation, through large-scale commercial logging, widespread clearance for plantations of rubber and oil-palm, fires and hunting are the main threats.

Voice
Territorial call is a shrill, piercing cry. Also utters 'kak' alarm notes and penetrating, rather metallic 'kook!, kook!'.
