Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland moist forest.

Range (Guide)
Indonesia (B), Papua New Guinea (B).

Mt Bosavi (south of cordillera), in eastern New Guinea.

Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Subspecies
Broad-billed Fairy-wren (Chenorhamphus grayi) and Campbell's Fairy-wren (Malurus campbelli) (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) have been lumped into Malurus grayi following Beehler et al. (1986), Coates (1990) and Vuilleumier et al. (1992).

Some consider this a subspecies of Broad-billed Fairy-wren (Chenorhamphus grayi).

No subspecies.
