Status LC
Habitat destruction and degradation through clearance for pasture and cultivation, especially in the north of its range, is the main threat.

Subspecies
Members of genus form a well-defined clade, and appear to be closely related to Hypocnemis. Most closely related to Ochre-rumped Antbird (Drymophila ochropyga).
