Habitat
Temperate grassland and shrubland, boreal shrubland, tundra.
Canada, USA (B).
Breeds in Canada from northern Mackenzie (possibly from Yukon) east to central Nunavut, south to north-eastern Saskatchewan, northern Manitoba and north-western Ontario. Winters in central and southern USA primarily from south-western South Dakota, northern Nebraska and central Iowa south, east of foothills and west of R Mississippi, to south-central and central Texas.
 
Population
Estimated population is 4,000,000 (2010).
