Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland and montane moist forest, dry forest. From 500 - 2,500 m.

Range (Guide)

Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua.

Central and southern Mexico (central Sinaloa, M�xico and Veracruz to Chiapas) through highlands of Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras to northern Nicaragua.

Population
Estimated population is 20,000 - 49,999 (2010).

Subspecies
Systematic position uncertain. Probably closely related to Calliphlox, and sometimes merged into an expanded version of this genus. Alternatively placed in Philodice.
