South-eastern Mexico (southern Oaxaca and Chiapas) and Guatemala; there is also a probable record from Honduras, which remains unconfirmed.

Estimated population is 1,000 - 2,499 (2010) and decreasing.
Status EN
Habitat destruction and degradation through conversion to agriculture, human developments,, hunting, trade are the main threats.

Food
Fruit, orchid flowers and leaves. Rarely invertebrates.
Voice
A deep, low booming 'uhmm, uh'mmm uh'mmm, uh'mmm uh'mmm, uh'mmm uh'mmmmm' uttered by males. Females utter around 7-8 vocalisations and variants. Other vocalisations include snorts, clicking and bill-clacking.
