Subspecies

The following 4 subspecies are recognised:
veraepacis (Sclater & Salvin, 1860) - Caribbean slope from south-eastern Mexico south to Nicaragua, and both slopes in Costa Rica. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Thrush-like Schiffornis (Schiffornis turdina).
dumicola (Bangs, 1903) - Western and central Panama. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Thrush-like Schiffornis (Schiffornis turdina).
rosenbergi (Hartert, 1898) - Pacific slope from western Colombia south to extreme north-western Peru (Tumbes). Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Thrush-like Schiffornis (Schiffornis turdina).
acrolophites Wetmore, 1972 - Extreme eastern Panama (Cerro Tacarcuna) and adjacent highland areas of north-western Colombia. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Thrush-like Schiffornis (Schiffornis turdina).
