Subspecies
Has been thought to form a superspecies with Copper Sunbird (Cinnyris cupreus).
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
inclusus (Clancey, 1970) - Coastal south-western Angola (Benguela, and Namibe south to R Cunene).
fuscus (Vieillot, 1819) - Namibia, western and central South Africa and southern Botswana.
