Subspecies
No subspecies.
Sometimes treated as conspecific with Boucard's Wren (Campylorhynchus jocosus), but the two are quite distinct in appearance and probably occupy slightly different ecological niches. Considerable individual variation in some characters (e.g. degree of spotting on underparts), but differences appear insufficiently constant to warrant separation of distinct subspecies.
