Habitat
Xerophytic vegetation, desert shrublands dominated by cacti and low thorn-bushes or trees. From sea-level - 450 m.

Range (Guide)

Aruba (E) (B), Netherlands Antilles (B), Venezuela (B).

Northern Venezuela and islands of Margarita and La Blanquilla; also Bonaire (Netherlands Antilles).

Population
Estimated population is 2,500 - 9,999 (2010) and decreasing.

Status VU
Habitat destruction through tourist and associated developments, trapping for the cage-bird trade are the main threats.

Voice
Noisy and raucous, including a dry rattling 'screeet' and a trilling 'scree-ee-ee-ak'.
