Subspecies
Forms a parapatric species pair with Golden-winged Parakeet (Brotogeris chrysoptera), and these two may form superspecies with Orange-chinned Parakeet (Brotogeris jugularis).
The following 5 subspecies are recognised:
chrysoptera (Linnaeus, 1766) - North-eastern Venezuela Seast through the Guianas to Roraima and Amapa, central-northern Brazil.
tenuifrons Friedmann, 1945 - Upper R Negro, north-western Brazil.
