Subspecies
Pyrrhura leucotis (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) has been split into White-eared Parakeet (Pyrrhura leucotis), Grey-breasted Parakeet (Pyrrhura griseipectus) and Goias Parakeet (Pyrrhura pfrimeri) following SACC (2005).
Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of White-eared Parakeet (Pyrrhura leucotis).
No subspecies.
Similar Species
Subtly different from White-eared Parakeet (Pyrrhura leucotis) and Grey-breasted Parakeet (Pyrrhura griseipectus), having generally more blue on the head and a reduced auricular patch.
