Subspecies
No subspecies.
Closely related to, and has been considered to form a superspecies with, Plain-tailed Wren (Pheugopedius euophrys), but differs markedly in song and (especially when compared with geographically closest subspecies of latter) in plumage. Neither species responds to playback of the other's song.
