Vagrant to Cyprus, Gibraltar, Greece, Italy, Lebanon, Malta.

Subspecies
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:

alchata (Linnaeus, 1766) - Iberian Peninsula and south-eastern France.
caudacutus (Gmelin, SG, 1774) - North-western Africa, from Morocco east to northern Libya; south-eastern Turkey and Middle East through Iraq and Iran east to Uzbekistan and southern Kazakhstan.
