South-eastern Benin and southern Nigeria east, including Bioko I (Fernando Póo), to southern Central African Republic, DRCongo, southern Uganda and western Kenya, south to north-western Angola and north-western Tanzania. Also southern Sudan (Imatong Mts). Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Yellow-chinned Sunbird (Anthreptes rectirostris).
