Currently this species is not classified as a rarity in this country OR information has not been updated.

Population
Estimated population is 1,100 (2010) and decreasing.

Status CR
Habitat loss and degradation owing to agricultural activities, development, typhoons and use of pesticides are the main threats. Recent introduction of the brown tree snake Boiga irregularis on Saipan is also a serious concern. Predation by rats and Mariana Crow (Corvus kubaryi) does not yet appear significant.

Food
Insects, seeds, and fruit, and perhaps nectar.

Voice
Calls and song not well differentiated. A harsh, rolling, low-pitched 'tsheip', buzzing 'zee-zee-zeeee', and two-note 'see-tseep'.

Subspecies
No subspecies.

Zosterops conspicillatus (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) has been split into the extinct Bridled White-eye (Zosterops conspicillatus) and Rota White-eye (Zosterops rotensis) following Slikas et al. (2000).
