Subspecies
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
longicauda Wallace, 1865 - Southern Myanmar east to Cambodia and southern Vietnam, south to Peninsular Malaysia, Riau Archipelago, Sumatra (including Bangka and Belitung) and Borneo (including northern islands and Maratua group).
javanica (Sparrman, 1788) - Java, Bali and Lombok.
nigritorquis Vigors, 1831 - Philippines, including Palawan and Sulu Archipelago. Considered by some authors to be a distinct species, Philippine Pied Fantail (Rhipidura nigritorquis).
