Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland moist forest. Also, subtropical and tropical montane moist forest, dry forest. From sea-level - 1,400 m.

Range (Guide)

Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Paraguay, Suriname.

Locally in the Guianas, through eastern Brazil (Amazonia west to R Branco and R Pur�s) south to eastern Bolivia (Santa Cruz), Paraguay and northern Argentina (Misiones, Jujuy and Salta).

Currently this species is not classified as a rarity in this country OR information has not been updated.

Population
Estimated population is 10,000 (2010).

Plumage shows very close resemblance to Bicolored Hawk (Accipiter bicolor), perhaps suggesting protective mimicry.
