Subspecies
This species has been placed in Ianthocincla, but exhibits wing flash typical of present genus.

The following 2 subspecies are recognised:

austeni (Godwin-Austen, 1870) - Southern Assam (northern Cachar), Nagaland and Manipur, in north-eastern India.
victoriae (Rippon, 1906) - South-eastern Mizoram, north-eastern India, and Chin Hills, in western Myanmar.
