Subspecies
Not recognised by BirdLife International. Considered to be a subspecies of Common Stonechat (Saxicola torquatus).
Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Common Stonechat (Saxicola torquatus).
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
- rubicola (Linnaeus, 1766) - From Denmark south-west to Spain and northern Morocco, east to Poland and Ukraine, and south-east to Turkey.
- hibernans (Hartert, 1910) - Ireland, Britain, western France and western Iberian coast.
