Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland and montane moist forest, dry grassland, dry shrubland, mangroves, plantations. From sea-level - 1,400 m.

Range (Guide)

Indonesia (B), Timor-Leste (B) (NB).

Sumbawa east to Tanimbar Is (Lesser Sundas) and Kai Is (south-eastern Moluccas). Also present on Tukangbesi Is (Tomea), where presumed to be feral.

Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Subspecies
Possible subspecies audacis of Tanimbar and Kai Is appears insufficiently distinct to merit recognition.

Forms a superspecies with Zebra Dove (Geopelia striata) and Peaceful Dove (Geopelia placida). All three have sometimes been considered conspecific.

Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Zebra Dove (Geopelia striata).

No subspecies.
