Subspecies
Forms a superspecies with Kai Cicadabird (Edolisoma dispar), Sumba Cicadabird (Edolisoma dohertyi), Kai Cicadabird (Edolisoma dispar) and Makira Cicadabird (Edolisoma salomonis). Possibly most closely related to subspecies pelingi of Kai Cicadabird (Edolisoma dispar). Has sometimes been treated as a subspecies of Sulawesi Cicadabird (Edolisoma morio).
