Subspecies
Proposed subspecies eremica (described from near Otjiwarongo, north-central Namibia) subsumed into nominate.
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
impetuani Smith, 1836 - Angola (coastal plain south of Luanda, also locally in Moxico), Namibia, north-western South Africa and western Botswana, occasionally irrupting east to Zimbabwe and northern South Africa (Limpopo Province).
sloggetti (Macdonald, 1957) - Western South Africa, occasionally irrupting east to Mpumalanga, Swaziland, Lesotho and southern KwaZulu-Natal.
eremica Clancey, 1989 - Coastal southern Angola to Namibia and north-western South Africa.
