Subspecies
Schistocichla leucostigma (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) has been split into Spot-winged Antbird (Myrmelastes leucostigma) and Roraiman Antbird (Myrmelastes saturatus) following SACC (2006).
Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Spot-winged Antbird (Myrmelastes leucostigma).
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
obscurus (Zimmer, JT & Phelps, 1946) - Tepuis of south-eastern Venezuela (eastern Bolívar) and adj. Brazil.
saturatus (Salvin, 1885) - South-eastern Venezuela, northern Brazil, western Guyana. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Spot-winged Antbird (Myrmelastes leucostigma).
