Foothill and montane forests, logged forest, derelict Eucalyptus plantations. From sea-level - 1,000 m.

Range (Guide)

Brazil (B).

South-eastern Brazil, from south-eastern Bahia, central Minas Gerais and Esp��rito Santo south to north-eastern Santa Catarina.

Population
Estimated population is 10,000 (2010) and decreasing.

Status NT
Habitat destruction and fragmentation of Atlantic forest throughout its range is the main threat.

A strident whistle, 'k�ou-k�ou k�u-k�t'. Softer than Screaming Piha (Lipaugus vociferans).
