Habitat
Subtropical and tropical heavily degraded former forest. From sea-level - 3,000 m.
Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, USA (B).
Vagrant to Belize, Canada.
South-western and south-central USA (southern California, southern Nevada, Arizona, southern New Mexico, central Texas, south-western Louisiana) through much of Mexico and Central America to north-western Costa Rica.
 
Population
Estimated population is 1,900,000 (2010).
