Habitat
Cloud-forest, and occasionally forest edges or in secondary growth. From 2,000 - 2,900 m.

Range (Guide)

Peru.

Eastern Andes of Peru, from Amazonas and San Mart��n south to Cuzco.

Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Status NT
Habitat destruction and degradation through conversion to agriculture including cattle ranching and soy production, is the main threat.

Subspecies
No subspecies.

Forms a superspecies with Rufous-breasted Flycatcher (Leptopogon rufipectus). Originally named "L. rufipectus", but that name invalid, as preoccupied by its close relative.
