Subspecies
Closely related to White-throated Swift (Aeronautes saxatalis). Subspecies tatei originally placed in monotypic genus Duidia.
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
montivagus (d'Orbigny & Lafresnaye, 1837) - Scattered range from northern Venezuelan cordilleras south through Andes to north-central Bolivia and north-western Argentina.
tatei (Chapman, 1929) - tepuís of southern Venezuela and extreme northern Brazil.
