Subspecies
No subspecies.
Sister-species of Melodious Warbler (Hippolais polyglotta), the two being fairly close to the sister-species pair formed by Upcher's Warbler (Hippolais languida) and Olive-tree Warbler (Hippolais olivetorum). Proposed subspecies alaris (described from northern Iran, thus outside current known breeding range of this species) considered undiagnosable.
