Description (10)
Image of Long-billed Corella
  Sexes similar.

Adults: General plumage white with faint yellow under wings and tail. Forehead, lores, band across throat, and bases of feathers on head, mantle and upper breast, orange-scarlet. Eye-ring, bare skin pale grey-blue. Eye, dark brown. Bill, bone, long and tapered. Feet and toes, mid-grey.

Immatures: As adults. Upper mandible shorter.

Downy Young: Finely yellow downed.

Derivation
Cac-a-tu'-a - Latinised from Malay kakatua, ? large parrot: ten-u-i-ros'-tris - L., tennuis, slender; L., rostrium, bill

Habitat
Red river gums in woodlands and on watercourses. Pastoral, cropping country. Sprouting cereal crops, grain-stubbles, hay windrows.

Nest
Hole in a tree.

Eggs (Guide)
2 - 3; white; oblong-oval to long-oval; about 41 x 31 mm. Incubation: 24 days; by both sexes.

Young
Fledge in about 42 - 56 days. Fed by both sexes.

Subspecies
Alternative genus name Kakatoe now obsolete and official suppression proposed. Formerly considered conspecific with Western Corella (Cacatua pastinator), incorporating Little Corella (Cacatua sanguinea). However, on current evidence, the three forms probably best considered to constitute three separate species.

No subspecies.

Similar Species
Little Corella (Cacatua sanguinea), which has a shorter bill and lacks then pinkish coloration across the throat, and Sulphur-crested Cockatoo (Cacatua galerita), which is larger and has a yellow crest.
