Subspecies
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
- pallidus (De Vis, 1897) - Oranje and Hindenburg Mts, in New Guinea.
- hagenensis Mayr and Gilliard, 1954 - Central Highlands, in eastern New Guinea.
- fuliginosus (De Vis, 1897) - Mountains of south-eastern New Guinea.
